Re: Letter of Resignation
Date: January 18 2025
Dear members,
I have watched this organization grow from very small and humble beginnings, to a larger movement that has done good work with marginalized communities. Unfortunately with growth, comes growing pains. Recently there was an incident where people were upset with my no nonsense approach to confronting oppression.
I published a statement in a private, members only viewed area that was leaked by another member. The screenshot showed myself making the statement “I punch nazis in their faces”. This was referred to as “threatening” and against the rules of the organization and therefore subject to punishment.
For the record, I stand by these statements and will continue to fight for what is right. The CSRAs inadequate veting process, as well as reoccurring failures to confront colonialism have informed me enough to make the decision to resign as President and look at other avenues of community defence. This resignation is effective immediately.
I do not identify as a “Canadian”, and I cannot comfortably identify as a “socialist” after witnessing how those words are being represented with some of the members inside the CSRA. I cannot continue to witness the terrible treatment of Indigenous leadership inside community spaces, and I refuse to be silenced when standing up against them.
I will continue to fight against colonialism, ableism, classism, racism, gender discrimination, and any other forms of oppression, and I hope that new CSRA leadership will have the guts to take a stand against these very important issues as I atempted to do.
Thank you for taking the time and reading my official resignation statements. See you on the front line.
Yours in Solidarity
