On June 28th 2023 a stabbing occurred at the University of Waterloo during a gender studies class. This is without a doubt related to the attacks on the 2SLGBTQ+ community across so called Canada recently. This illustrates a complete failure to repel hate.
We at the CSRA demand that political parties confront the culprits, condemn their actions, and recognize that far-right agitation is to blame for this act of violence. Recently we have witnessed campaigns on a crusade to stifle 2SLGBTQ+ human rights and these actions only add legitimacy to terrorists. This is an act of terrorism. Elected officials continue to identify with these oppressive ideologies to harvest votes and have failed to extinguish the fires of fascism that continues to grow in our communities.
This is a further example of attempting to treat the symptom without acknowledging the cause. We refuse to accept this and expect more from our political parties.
